  1. plug your dongles in, log into Administrator account.

  2. Open your device manager (start, right click file explorer, click properties, click 'device manager')

  3. At the bottom of the display pane there's USB devices (below USB controllers) - drop that down, find your dongle on that list.

  4. Right click and choose 'uninstall'

  5. Reboot (it asks you to anyhow)

  6. log in as administrator again

  7. download http://zadig.akeo.ie/downloads/zadig_2.1.2.exe

  8. Run. If you've used zadig before, the difference is it's no longer called 'Bulk-in Interface 0' anymore, you want to overwrite the drivers for the 'RTL2838UHIDIR' devices listed. WinUSB is the driver you want to inject/replace it with.

if you haven't used zadig, you have to go to options and tick 'list all devices' in order to see the aforementioned 'RTL2838UHIDIR' devices.
